We Marcia and Luigi, educators who follow the boys and girls of the pillars, a socio-educational center in the area Pillar of the district, San Donato, Bologna. The center has existed for about six years, managed on behalf of the neighborhood from San Donato Dolce Social Cooperative Society. The center is located in a street Natali (start via Deledda) and is open during the school year and then approximately from September to June with a summer extension to July inclusive. The hours are Mon-Thurs from 13:00 to 18:00.
The organization is indicative of the days: lunch - recreation - tasks and educational support - various activities.
Among the main activities and better structured without doubt one of the outstanding musical workshop and flea market. Both musicians active with many groups, there are now dedicated to raising awareness of children to music and way of fruirla. Not just mp3 then passed from phone to phone, for example, without any idea who the artist in question and what is behind the project but structured musical knowledge, the history of key groups (mainly rock, punk rock and hip hop) : watching movies, text analysis, reading of images and messages that carry with them, explaining the mechanisms of the press.
The workshop, called "Let's Rock" is a coming together of young people to the music "live", ie taking them in the rehearsal room (center Old Son of Steno in Bologna with which we cooperate for a long time) to compare them with the tools, experience the music, too often give vent to repressed energies and that are not forms of channeling. The philosophy of DIY (do it yourself, do it yourself) punk, and the use of themes such as frustration, anger, social deprivation and the desire to help change young people to draw from their everyday experiences to write music and lyrics. Their skills are still rudimentary, but are preparing personalized itineraries to make the best capabilities of each.
Another project that is very dear to us is the flea market on a mold shop Free North European, shops and informal spaces that is, which operate at the local flea markets 'recovery' is usually free or donation. Accept other lifestyles in addition to mainstream and socially easier to accept is one of our purposes: in a society where the marks and brands reign supreme imposed from above, we believe it is important to promote more sustainable consumption of resources (library waste and recycling) through the use of non-branded clothes but used and worn with dignity and understanding of the facts. The guys have understood this.
Other activities instead of mold are purely recreational fun, from the creation of artifacts to create games, suits, shirts etc, all at the request of the boys. We took part in a carpentry workshop and soon began a study of theater and movement.
In the past we have participated and won a photo competition and a competition of short films by writing a short script that was later built on that guideline.
We recently started a close collaboration with the Association "Family Malaussene", an association of volunteers who work at both national (and volunteer centers in the area) and international (fun educational summer camps in Kosovo) .
Our it is sometimes very hard work and exhausting, puts you in contact with a reality that is often difficult, but at the same time gives a lot in terms of people and relationships. See the happiness of the children when playing and having fun is all salaries, high or low they are, in the world.
We learn a lot from them and the continuous contact with this reality of youth, often angry, uncomfortable, worn out but still standing, is precious gasoline to keep going.
